We loved the French theme throughout. Each floor featured a French artist. I did wish the restaurant was still open, but coffee and oranges available in the lobby and good breakfasts were steps away at Roxanne’s. In the Junior Suite we had a lovely separate sitting room, where my daughters and I gathered each evening to visit. The bed was very comfortable. Although it had a mind of its own sometimes, the historic elevator added to the charm. The two staff we saw most were friendly and very helpful. The location of the hotel was perfect for us: cable car and three good restaurants steps from our door, and we could walk through Chinatown, Little Italy and Fisherman’s Wharf from there.

We love San Francisco and like to spend our anniversary, Valentine's day, there when we can. One reason we chose the Cornell is our history of staying there in the 90's and early 2000. We were also anxious to have a Valentine's dinner in the Jeanne d'Arc castle-like restaurant in the basement. The hotel is central to most things we like to see. It is beautifully decorated. It is quaint. The restaurant puts out a delicious fresh breakfast that is included in the room charge. Our dinner at the restaurant was excellent. It was very romantic and the environment is cozy.

Mary

Very conveniently located, loved the older style building and boutique hotel. Staff was attentive and friendly, no issues with the elevator for us. Restaurants, stores, and coffee shops within short walking distance. Included breakfast was decent (eggs/potatoes/bacon with juices/milk/coffee). Beds were comfortable, room was clean, walls weren’t thin or anything, windows actually open which was very nice. Parking was $40/night across the street. Also just a really cool ambiance to the place!

The hotel is a small, eccentric boutique hotel, with a quaint, old-fashioned style elevator. It is situated a few streets higher up from Union Square so be prepared for a steep climb up from Market. All said it is readily accessible from the BART with a carry-on. The room and bathroom were great for a long weekend. The staff were very friendly and helpful which always helps.

Gordon

Staff were all very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was complimentary which was a lovely surprise and was very tasty- Eggs, Bacon, potatoes etc. The chef was really friendly. Location was ideal just off union square. The room was small , but very clean and serviced each day. The shower was good too. I would stay here again but wouldn't pay extra for a deluxe
